All you need to start using the app is a valid card from a participating public library.The app is completely free, with no subscription fees, hidden costs, or late charges. Books return automatically on their due dates. It is developed by OverDrive as a modern replacement for the older OverDrive app. You can read inside the app or send library books to a Kindle device (in the U.S.). You can listen to audiobooks with adjustable speeds, sleep timers, and support for Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. You can download titles for offline use or stream them over Wi-Fi and mobile data. You can add multiple library cards and switch between different library systems.

As part of ongoing security maintenance, OverDrive, the parent company of Libby, is now requiring a pin for login on the app or web browser to verify accounts starting on October 15.. You can verify your Libby account in three simple steps:
